　　Reporter:Today is "International Biodiversity Day". What do you think is the significance of holding a forum on the cultivation and utilization of agricultural biodiversity at this time?

　　Jonathan Adams:This is a very meaningful time. The conference has gathered many experts and scholars from different fields, including biology, animals and microorganisms. It is very meaningful for these top experts and scholars to work together to explore the development path of biodiversity agriculture.

　　I admire Mr. Zhao Yafu very much and admire his foresight. The food problem has always been the focus of everyone’s attention, but Mr. Zhao Yafu not only pays attention to the food problem, but also pays attention to a higher level of ecological and environmental protection, which makes me very surprised and admired.

　　We should study the experience and model of Daizhuang, and let Daizhuang’s biodiversity genes and green development genes be implanted in other villages.

　　Reporter:Is it a very important time to develop biodiversity agriculture now?

　　Sun Hongwu:Yes, because the country has now entered a new stage of development — — Socialism with Chinese characteristics’s new era is marked by people’s pursuit of a better life. In the past, when people had not solved the problem of food and clothing, they were busy eating their stomachs, wearing warm clothes and living in a good house. Now that China has built a well-off society in an all-round way, the battle against poverty has also won an all-round victory, and the driving force for the country’s economic and social development has changed accordingly. In the past, agricultural development relied more on the input of resources and the loss of the environment. Although food security was guaranteed, it also paid a great price. After excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, lakes and rivers were polluted, the land became barren and the soil hardened. Entering a new stage, we hope to have such a living environment. Besides having enough food, the sky is blue, the air is fresh and the water is sweet. We should not only eat healthy and nutritious, but also eat long life. Therefore, agricultural biodiversity not only represents the future of China, but also represents the future of mankind and the future of the earth.

　　We will study Daizhuang’s experience and model, so that Daizhuang’s biodiversity genes and green development genes can be implanted into other villages and into the vast land of the motherland, making the sky of the motherland bluer, the water clearer and the people’s lives happier.

　　Diversification includes not only the comprehensive cultivation of farmland, but also the participation of people from all walks of life. From a systematic point of view, the role played by the community of mountains, rivers, forests, fields and lakes actually requires the cooperation of experts from different fields.

　　Reporter:Let’s talk about biodiversity agriculture now. What is its significance?

　　Sheng Jing:Biodiversity is a big concept, as Li Long, a professor at China Agricultural University, said at this forum, the diversification of crops includes not only the comprehensive cultivation of farmland, but also the landscape ecology, which requires the participation of people from all walks of life. From a systematic point of view, the role played by the community of mountains, rivers, forests, fields and lakes actually requires the cooperation of experts from different fields. The convening of this forum has played a good guiding role for workers engaged in biodiversity research in Jiangsu.

　　Reporter:After you came to Daizhuang, you saw the development achievements of biodiversity agriculture in Daizhuang. Then, combined with the convening of this meeting, what is your feeling?

　　Sheng Jing:The development of Daizhuang is getting better and better now, and the main body of biodiversity agriculture practice should be the village. Daizhuang has done very successfully in this area, which provides a good reference for us to choose the main body of biodiversity agriculture in the next step. We are also exploring this model of Daizhuang, such as its management mode, operation mode and practice mode, hoping to promote and demonstrate these models in other places in Jiangsu Province.

　　Reporter:How do you feel after listening to so many experts’ speeches today?

　　Zhao Yafu:As a scientific and technological worker who is actively engaged in the research, development and utilization of agricultural biodiversity with farmers, I am glad to see that some viewpoints and technical practices on agricultural green development put forward by myself have been affirmed and supported by many expert leaders, and at the same time, I have seen the rapid growth of teams actively involved in the cultivation and research of agricultural biodiversity all over the country and achieved fruitful results. Everyone communicated with each other, which was very inspiring. They learned a lot of new knowledge, new ideas and new operational experience, and they gained a lot and were full of positive energy. This has further enhanced my confidence in promoting biodiversity agriculture. I believe that Zhenjiang will definitely make a good start in the whole province and the whole country. Under the strong leadership of Zhenjiang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, with the enthusiastic participation of farmers and friends, Zhenjiang’s agricultural and rural modernization will be even better tomorrow.

　　Reporter:During the interview, we can hear birds chirping in the trees. In such a biodiversity environment, so many experts are talking about this topic. Do you think it is particularly meaningful?

　　Zhao Yafu:Very meaningful. So many experts are there, experiencing, tasting and appreciating the fruits of the green development of agricultural biodiversity technology system, and they are very satisfied with green landscape agriculture. In addition, during this activity, it was proposed that a forum be held in Daizhuang, Jurong every year from May 22nd, and gradually become a national conference, so as to further develop into an international biodiversity agriculture forum.

　　Reporter:Many experts discuss the topic of biodiversity from different angles, and everyone has a common voice. What is your understanding of this common voice?
