The earthquake in Ninglang, Yunnan Province has injured 22 people and emergency rescue has been launched.
Xinhua News Agency, Kunming, January 2-According to the information office of the government of Ninglang Yi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, the 5.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in ninglang county on the afternoon of the 2 nd has caused two serious injuries and 20 minor injuries, and all the injured people have been treated in time without life-threatening. At present, there are no reports of deaths and no houses collapsed, but rural houses and infrastructure have been damaged to varying degrees. The Seismological Bureau of Yunnan Province has launched a three-level response, and multi-channel rescue forces have arrived in the earthquake-stricken areas for emergency rescue.
China Seismological Network officially determined that a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in ninglang county, Lijiang City (27.79 degrees north latitude and 100.65 degrees east longitude) at 15: 02: 06 on January 2, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. The epicentre is 60 kilometers away from Ninglang County and about 3 kilometers away from yongningzhen, ninglang county. It is estimated that the highest intensity is 7 degrees, and the total area of 6 degrees and above is 1,389 square kilometers, involving 24,000 people.
According to the ninglang county Municipal Government Information Office, the disaster situation in the disaster area is mainly caused by the falling of house tiles and articles. The power supply, water supply and communication are basically normal, and people’s lives have not been seriously affected yet. However, some houses, transportation, water conservancy and other infrastructure have been damaged to varying degrees, and the disaster situation is being further counted.
After the earthquake, according to the unified deployment of the Emergency Management Department, the Seismological Bureau of China and the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Government, the Seismological Bureau of Yunnan Province immediately launched a three-level emergency response, set up an emergency command center, and arranged the deployment of emergency response and disposal. A 23-member field team led by a deputy director rushed to the disaster area with relevant instruments and equipment.
Ninglang Brigade of Lijiang detachment of Yunnan Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps dispatched 15 people and 4 cars from Qiantu detachment to the epicenter to investigate the disaster, and the light search and rescue team of Lijiang detachment dispatched 67 people, 8 cars and 3 dogs. The corps also mobilized a total of 390 people, 88 cars and 16 dogs from Dali, Baoshan, Diqing and Chuxiong to rush to reinforce.
At 18: 30 on the same day, the forward detachment of Ninglang Brigade arrived at Bajia Village, yongningzhen. Rescue forces went to households to investigate and verify the disaster situation, cleaned up some houses with potential safety hazards after the earthquake, and cooperated with government workers to transfer the affected people to safe areas.
On the evening of the same day, 37 officers and men of Ninglang Squadron of Lijiang Forest Fire Brigade arrived in Wadu Village, yongningzhen, ninglang county, which was seriously affected. Rescuers searched the trapped people door by door to appease them and dealt with the dangerous houses of the people to prevent secondary disasters. In addition, 83 officers and men of the light rescue team of Lijiang Forest Fire Brigade are rushing to the epicenter.
According to the introduction of the Seismological Bureau of Yunnan Province, since 1900, there have been five earthquakes with magnitude above 5 within 50 kilometers of the epicentre of this earthquake, and the largest earthquake with magnitude of 6.7 occurred in Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province on November 7, 1976, about 49 kilometers away from the epicentre of this earthquake.
